The Information Services Department offers a welcoming, user-centered environment for all information seekers in our community. Our goal is to help in your journey to knowledge, understanding, and empowerment. We work to ensure our collection of information resources is timely, accurate, and reliable, and to provide equitable access and service to all users both inside and outside of the Library.

Ask us anything. We are here to meet your information and research needs. Our collection covers the widest possible range of subject interests and viewpoints, including areas of both historical and current concern. These sources are available as books, newspapers and other periodicals, microfiche/films, and online databases.

Access to Information

JCFPL offers a wide range of online resources accessible from home, and library staff are available by phone or by chat to assist patrons with information and research questions.

The Jersey City Free Public Library has announced updated printing, copying, and 3D printing charges effective April 1, 2026; view the full patron notice for details.

Due to extensive maintenance issues, the Five Corners Branch will remain closed until further notice. Patrons can find the latest updates and additional library services provided here.
