  • When does the school year start and end?
    • Start Date: Monday, September 14, 2026
    • End Date: Friday, June 11, 2027
      • Note: Registration is open until Friday, April 2, so students interested in joining after September 14 are still encouraged to do so.
  • How often do classes meet? 
    • Twice a week. Each class is two hours long.
  • What are the hours for classes?
    • Classes meet weekdays during the morning and evening.
    • Students can select which time they prefer.

    • Closes: Friday, April 2, 2027

  • Do I need to pay for classes and materials?
    • No, all Learning Center classes and materials are free.
  • Are there any documents needed to register for classes?
    • Yes, a valid photo ID
  • How old do I need to be to participate in classes?
    • For ESL, Digital Skills, and Workforce classes, students must be at least 18 years of age.
    • K-12 students are eligible to enroll in Aspire classes, linked here.

About

For almost 40 years, the JCFPL Learning Center has provided free instruction to thousands of Jersey City residents from over 60 countries. The Center’s success is a testament to the passion of its instructors, the commitment of the Library, and the unwavering support of the community. In recognition of these results, the JCFPL Learning Center has been made an award-winning affiliate of Literacy NJ, an accredited member of ProLiteracy, and a participant in TESOL (Teaching English to Students of Other Languages) International programming.
