Happy National Poetry Month from JCFPL

Happy National Poetry Month from the Jersey City Free Public Library! This month, we celebrate the power of poetry—a literary art that uses aesthetic and rhythmic qualities of language to evoke deeper meaning beyond the surface. National Poetry Month is a time to honor the vital role poets play in our culture and to recognize the significance of poetry in our lives.
Over the years, National Poetry Month has become the largest literary celebration in the world, with tens of millions of readers, students, K–12 teachers, librarians, booksellers, literary events curators, publishers, families, and—of course—poets, marking poetry’s important place in our lives.
As the heart of the city, we are committed to putting our Community First by fostering creativity and expression. That’s why we host events, including open mic nights, where patrons can refine their poetry skills and share their work with the community.
