Happy International Literacy Day from JCFPL
Since 1967, the annual celebrations of International Literacy Day (ILD) have taken place on 8 September around the world to remind policymakers, practitioners, and the public of the critical importance of literacy for creating more literate, just, peaceful, and sustainable society.
At Jersey City Free Public Library literacy is one of our core values as our commitment to lifelong learning for our patrons. We believe that literacy is the foundation for personal growth, community connection, and lifelong learning.
One of JCFPL’s most valuable resources for promoting literacy is our Learning Center. The Learning Center provides many services to our patrons, including a robust Basic Literacy course.

Feedback
“We attended the Passport Adventures this summer in the JC The Heights Library and me and my kids love it! We learned a lot about different countries, culture, food and history. My kids always look forward to going each week. Now they love reading about different place and learning more about it. Special thanks to Ms. Mary and Ms. Alex for such an engaging, fun and educational activity❤️🙏”
