Celebrate National Hobby Month with JCFPL

Celebrate National Hobby Month with Jersey City Free Public Library! Our support for our patrons’ Lifelong Learning journey includes creating programs that help them discover and nurture new hobbies. Discovering and developing hobbies can benefit physical, mental, and emotional well-being by relieving stress, fostering curiosity, and building community. 

JCFPL offers a variety of programs designed to help patrons explore new hobbies, like guitar lessons for all ages, sewing groups, and book chats. Discover your new hobby at Jersey City Free Public Library!

  • Hoopla’s National Hobby Month Collection: Discover new passions this National Hobby Month with our staff book and video picks! From knitting and photography to fitness and music, dive into a wide array of hobbies for adults, perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re looking to relax, create, or stay active, this collection has something for everyone to explore and enjoy. Borrow, stream, and download content on iOS, Android, Kindle Fire, and more.
  • Fiero Code: A learn-to-code program for ages 8-18 (and beyond) offering fun games, tutorials, and projects to learn languages like Scratch, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python, and SQL.
  • Ancestry Library Edition: Must visit branch to use. Explore the amazing history of you. Answers await everyone—whether professional or hobbyist, expert or novice, genealogist or historian—inside the more than 7,000 available databases. Here, you can unlock the story of you with sources like censuses, vital records, immigration records, family histories, military records, court and legal documents, directories, photos, maps and more.

📢 Important Update: The Communipaw Branch Library is closed today. We apologize for the inconvenience.

We are currently experiencing an issue where some patrons with Yahoo email addresses may not receive email notifications from our system, SIRSI. SIRSI is actively working to resolve this problem, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused.
