Celebrate Arab American Heritage Month with JCFPL

Throughout April, the Jersey City Free Public Library honors the achievements of Arab Americans. As the largest municipal library in New Jersey, serving one of the most diverse cities in the country, we deeply value our diverse patrons. That’s why we remain committed to being a Welcoming Space for all who enter our doors.

In 2022, President Biden became the first U.S. president to declare April as Arab American Heritage Month, in recognition of the contributions of Arab Americans to the nation’s history. Americans of Arab heritage have advanced the nation’s achievements in diplomacy, science, technology, as well as in art and culture.

• Hoopla – Explore Hoopla’s Arab Heritage Collection. Hoopla is a digital library streaming service that allows users to borrow and stream audiobooks, eBooks, comics, music, movies, and TV shows, all free with a library card. 

• Kanopy – Explore Kanopy’s Arab Heritage Month Collection. Kanopy is an on-demand streaming video platform for public and academic libraries that offers films, TV shows, educational videos and documentaries 

• Beanstack – A web and mobile app that tracks independent reading time, helping to build a culture of reading for all ages in libraries and at home.
