Earn, Save, Spend, Budget! Kids Can Learn about Personal Finance through New Library Offerings
Jersey City Free Public Library has been selected to receive a Thinking Money for Kids Program Kit from the American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation. JCFPL is one of 300 libraries selected through a national application process to receive this unique offering.
Starting in January 2025, our patrons will have the opportunity to learn about financial topics — like earning, saving, spending, sharing, and budgeting — in a meaningful and fun way through this new offering. Visit the library for in-person kids’ programs or take home a tablet loaded with fun games offered through the Thinking Money for Kids program. The Program Kit is a collection of expertly vetted resources to help libraries teach financial education concepts to children ages 3 to 12, both in the library and children’s homes.
We encourage parents to visit the library to check out a Playaway Launchpad tablet to bring home. These brand-new tablets are pre-loaded with fun financial education games and don’t require a home internet connection. The Playaway Launchpad tablet can be checked out in the following locations: PGML Children’s Room, Cunningham Branch, Miller Branch, and Lafayette Branch Library.

Thinking Money for Kids is a series of interactives to help young people get started on the path to financial literacy. The interactives answer fundamental questions about personal finance: What is money? How do I earn money? And how do I make good money decisions?
