Looking for Fresh Talent to Present & Perform at Tales of Our Cities 2014

7th Annual Book Festival to be held at Grove Street Plaza on Sunday, September 21st

JERSEY CITY, N.J.   April 25, 2014 – The Jersey City Free Public Library is now scouting for book authors, poets, spoken word artists, musicians, performers, vendors, publishers and sponsors for its annual book festival, Tales of Our Cities, which will be held on Sunday, September 21st, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in a new venue – Grove Street Plaza – in the heart of Downtown Jersey City.

Presented in conjunction with the Jersey City Division of Cultural Affairs, and now in its seventh year,

Tales of Our Cities 2014 has captured the hearts of local and regional writers and performers as a place that welcomes talent. The change of venue brings in the opportunity of engaging the surrounding local eateries and Jersey City’s two book stores, Tachair and Word, while giving the public easy transportation access.

The book festival participation is free to all authors, performers and vendors. Previous participating authors with new works can apply for consideration, and all chosen authors will have the chance to read or perform what they have written. Rich Stromoski, creator of the comic strip, Soup to Nutz, headlined last year’s Tales of Our Cities book festival with a fun and well-received cartoon drawing presentation to children.

The application deadline for all participants – authors, vendors, sponsors and performers – is Monday, July 21, 2014. For the participant’s application, please go to the library website, Tales of Our Cities link: http://www.jclibrary.org/images/Events/tale2014/Participant%27s%20Contract-2014.pdf
