JERSEY CITY, N.J. June 13, 2012 – Who said dinosaurs don’t roam where humans walk?!
Dinosaur Troubadour, the walking-talking-guitar-playing reptile from Field Station: Dinosaurs, has been stalking many a library recently, and now, he comes to Jersey City’s Main Library at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20th to read, play his guitar and sing his dinosaur stories for children of all ages!
Dinosaur Troubadour will be bringing his fellow dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus Rex, to the Main Library, where he can muster his towering 15 feet to roar and breathe at the corner of Jersey Avenue and Mercer Street in the heart of Downtown Jersey City’s Van Vorst Historic District.
The Vincenzo Domenico Bonetti II Children’s Room, in conjunction with the Jersey City Division of Cultural Affairs and Jersey City Mayor Jerramiah T. Healy, sponsors this unique program from Field Station: Dinosaurs, a world-class family attraction that combines cutting-edge science with the creative minds of great artists and teachers to create a one-of-kind experience that's thrilling, educational and fun.
“We wanted to provide something really different before the Summer Reading Program starts on Monday, June 25,” said Francina Stevens, who heads the Bonetti Children’s Room. Registration for SRP 2012 began on June 1st and continues into its first week. Themes guide the book selections, with Dream Big – READ! for children (grades K-5), and Own the Night, for young adults (grades 6-8). Children can register at one of the library’s nine branches, the Bookmobile, and the Children’s Room. Besides keeping book logs of those read, children enjoy crafts, movies and other activities throughout the eight weeks. A trip to Camp Liberty rounds out the program – and the summer, while each participant benefits in the fall from the continued reading.
