Big Changes Ahead: Heights Branch Library to Temporarily Close for Major Upgrades Starting May 12th

Exciting changes are coming to the Heights Branch Library! Beginning May 12th, the branch will temporarily close as we begin our transformation to upgrade your library experience. These improvements are designed to better serve the evolving needs of our patrons and the entire community.
These extensive upgrades will feature a redesigned layout with new, inviting furniture, a beautifully restored front façade—including the stairs and exterior ramp—and an improved heating and cooling system for year-round comfort.
During the Heights closure, the Bookmobile will be providing extended services to Heights Branch patrons. In addition to their regular stops at PS #17, PS #26, MS #7, and Pershing Fields, the Bookmobile will also be stationed outside the Dunkin Donuts at the corner of Zabriskie and Central Ave, at 318 Central Ave on the following dates:
- Thursday, May 15 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Friday, May 16 from | 1:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Monday, May 19, | 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
- Monday, May 19, | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Tuesday, May 20 | 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Friday, May 23 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
- Thursday, May 29 | 2:30 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Friday, May 30 | 1:00 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Monday June 2 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
- Monday June 2 | 2:45 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
- Tuesday, June 3 | 11:45 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Friday, June 6 | 10:00 a.m. – 11:15 a.m.
These stops will continue throughout the summer months. Additional dates to be announced in June.
We will also provide additional resources at the JCFPL Learning Center—Central Avenue location (394 Central Ave) starting June 16. Patrons can access computers, participate in the Summer Learning Program, and borrow additional laptops and hotspots with extended loan periods at the JCFPL Learning Center—Central Avenue. Due dates for borrowed materials will be extended, and items can be returned to any JCFPL branch during operating hours.
Additionally, patrons can explore in-person programming at the Five Corners Branch Library (678 Newark Avenue) while the branch is closed, with the full events calendar available here. You can continue to access our extensive collection of digital resources wherever you have internet access.
