1st Annual Foundation Fundraiser
With sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline and a direct view of the Statue of Liberty, the Jersey City Free Public Library Foundation, Inc. held its Inaugural Fundraiser Reception on Thursday evening, October 14 at the Liberty House Restaurant in Liberty State Park.
Entertainment was provided by the Don Carter Quartette and a young violinist, Miss Ayanna Moné Patterson, whose amazing poise at age six was evidenced by her ability to play an encore with ease. The crowd also enjoyed the participation of children from the Miller and Pearsall branches, as they paraded around in storybook costumes. Little Red Riding Hood handed out special ‘thank you’s’ – in bright red paper, of course. And there was even a performance by Mother Goose and The Cat in the Hat!
Library Foundation Chairwoman Sandra Bolden-Cunningham emphasized the need to support your local library – and refurbish the full library system – since books and learning are lifelong activities that open the world of experience to an individual. All proceeds from the fundraiser reception go to funding library capital improvements.
